Working Together in Preserving Endangered Languages

May 21-22, 2009

We invite you to participate in a two-day knowledge-sharing conference with pioneer language revitalization specialist Akira Yamamoto. There are no registration fees for any events, but registration is required. The Friday morning workshop has limited space, so please register early to secure your spot.


Thursday, May 21st:

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: On-site registration

10 AM - 10:30: Conference opening

10:30 AM - 3:30 PM: Conference presentations

4 PM - 5 PM: Keynote talk by Akira Yamamoto:

"Place for All Languages: Language Vitality and Revitalization."


Friday, May 22nd:

10 AM - noon: Hands-on language materials development workshop with Akira and Kimiko Yamamoto: "Creating in Language."


These events are supported by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, the Native American Studies Program, and the Department of Applied Linguistics at Portland State University.
